Peaceful Vacations: How to Truly Rest with Saint Teresa of Jesus
Three Tips for Unwinding in Summer and Putting God at the Center of Your Rest
Vacation, summer, days off… you want to rest. But sometimes you feel like you’re never really disconnecting.
Saint Teresa of Jesus, a rebellious saint, has some good advice:
“Let nothing trouble you, let nothing frighten you. God never changes. Patience achieves all things. He who has God lacks nothing; God alone is enough.”
Do you want to learn to rest in God? Here are three ways inspired by Saint Teresa of Jesus:
1. Let go of your worries
Patience achieves all things. Summer can bring stress: travel, social media, suitcases, the pressure to be perfect. St. Teresa reminds us: trust in God. Write down what’s weighing you down, give it to Him in prayer, and leave it in His hands. He is with you always.
2. Calm down, everything passes
You don’t need an epic plan to relax. Take a walk, look up at the sky, have a cup of coffee in silence. Saint Teresa found God in the small things, and you can too. Turn off your phone for a while and connect with Jesus.
3. Pray with your heart
Take a moment to talk to God as if you were a friend, without rushing. Tell Him how you feel. Repeat Saint Teresa’s saying: “God alone is enough.” That moment renews you, because God is the center of your rest.
This vacation, truly rest by putting God at the center. Are you up for it? Share this peace with someone who needs it. Remember: God loves you… and He wants you to be happy.
