Where is Artificial Intelligence Leading Us? The Church Calls for a Continental Debate on the Future of Human Dignity
CEBITEPAL-CELAM, the NCADDHM, and the Pontifical Commission for Latin America are opening a global space for dialogue to analyze the impact of emerging technologies on faith and society
Technological advancement is no longer solely the domain of scientists and technologists. The speed at which Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming integrated into the fabric of daily life has raised concerns and sparked interest among various global institutions. In this context, the Catholic Church in the Americas and Europe has decided to take the lead in a collective reflection on an international scale .
Under the title “Magnifica Humanitas ,” an open invitation has been launched for what is shaping up to be a landmark of community deliberation: the “Continental Conversations .” This virtual forum, inspired by the encyclical of Pope Leo XIV, seeks to explore the challenges and opportunities that AI presents in three fundamental areas: human dignity , the common good , and pastoral discernment .
A bridge between continents
The initiative stands out not only for the relevance of its theme, but also for the stature of the organizations that support it. Behind the call are CEBITEPAL-CELAM , the National Association of Diocesan Directors for Hispanic Ministry (NCADDHM) , and the Pontifical Commission for Latin America , led by the distinguished specialist Dr. Rodrigo Guerra .
The goal is clear: to break down territorial barriers and foster a dialogue in Spanish that simultaneously connects pastoral leaders, educators, specialists, and citizens from the Pacific to Central Europe . More than a series of keynote addresses, the organizers emphasize that the meetings are designed as a two-way space . Each participant will have the opportunity to ask questions and contribute their own perspectives .
Meeting coordinates
The meeting for this first major global dialogue is scheduled for today, Friday, June 12, 2026. To facilitate connection within the global Spanish-speaking community, the following key times have been established:
- Los Angeles (Pacific): 10:00 AM
- Mexico City (Center): 11:00 AM
- Bogotá / Lima: 12:00 PM
- Washington DC (East): 1:00 PM

Note for those interested: The sessions will last 1 hour and 15 minutes, will be held online , and are completely free . Formal registration and direct access to the platform can be managed by scanning the QR code on the attached promotional poster or via the link . The digital future is already here, and the opportunity to listen, learn, and discern its direction is just a click away .
