The Bioethics Observatory has reaffirmed its digital leadership during the 2024-2025 period, registering sustained growth on both its main Spanish website and its international version, Bioethics Observatory. Together, the two platforms have more than 235,000 active users, confirming the growing interest in rigorous bioethical analysis worldwide.
Data from the latest web report reveals an undeniable upward trend: the Spanish-language portal reached 214,000 active users, representing a 16.3% increase over the previous year. Meanwhile, the English-language website, Bioethics Observatory, maintained its momentum with 21,000 active users (an 8.5% increase) and greater interactivity, exceeding 102,000 read and download events (+13.6%).
Transnational impact: from Latin America to Asia
The geographical reach of the Observatory shows a strong loyalty in the Spanish-speaking world and a surprising penetration into new markets.
- In Spanish: Spain leads the audience with 70,000 users (+18.6%), followed by a strong community in Mexico (37,000) and Argentina (14,000). Interest in Spanish-language content within the United States is noteworthy, where the audience grew by 39.7%, reaching 12,000 users.
- In English: The United States remains the primary audience for the Bioethics Observatory with 8,300 users. However, the most significant finding is the exponential growth in Asia: traffic from China has increased by 887.4% and from Singapore by 70.3% , highlighting the globalization of bioethical debates.
The issues that set the agenda
Analysis of the most viewed content reflects an audience seeking in-depth exploration of both scientific and cultural topics. On the Spanish-language website, articles about the origin of life and the relationship between science and human life top the list, along with cultural analyses such as the review of the film “Perfect Days,” which saw a 65.1% increase in readership.
On the English-language website, the “Reports” section experienced an extraordinary surge with an 811.8% increase in visits. Furthermore, readers showed great interest in end-of-life discussions, notably the Zoraya ter Beek case (+53.5%).
Artificial Intelligence: the new gateway
Finally, the report highlights a shift in information access habits. While Google remains the primary traffic source, artificial intelligence is establishing itself as a key influencer. Referrals from ChatGPT increased by 200.8% on the Spanish website and 44.2% on the English website, demonstrating that the Observatory is a leading source for new technological tools.
