Leo XIV warns against an ancient temptation: to reject philosophical reflection for fear of “contaminating” the purity of the faith. He cites Pius XII, Karl Barth, and Saint Augustine to affirm that such distrust is equivalent to a lack of love for wisdom. Far from remaining on the sidelines, believers are called to engage in dialogue with the different philosophical approaches in the Scriptures. Dignity, truth, and the dangers of a rationalism without faith
