In memoriam: Edistio Cámere, sower of hope and educator of the heart
The passing of our beloved collaborator and friend leaves a profound void, but also an indelible mark on the world of education and human commitment
With profound sorrow, we at Exaudi announce the sudden passing of our beloved collaborator and friend, Edistio Cámere. A Peruvian psychologist, educator, and writer, Edistio was an essential reference in the field of human and Christian education, a tireless sower of hope in classrooms, families, and society.
Throughout his life, Edistio not only educated with words, but also with his testimony. His passion for the integral development of the person led him to promote multiple educational initiatives: he was the creator of the CENIT educational model, founder of the School of Leaders (Elíder), general director of the Santa Margarita School for more than 25 years, and president of associations such as PROFORHUM and PROHUMTEC. He also served on the National Education Council in Peru.
His vocation as an educator found a natural extension in writing. The author of numerous books—such as Education, Beyond the Classroom, The Family, an Optimistic Perspective, Leadership and Participation from School, and Educating to Leave a Mark—Edistio understood education as a profoundly human and spiritual act. In his own words, “to educate is to leave a mark on the hearts of others.”
At Exaudi, he was a generous and constant contributor, with his published articles addressing the reality of education, culture, family, and society with depth, clarity, and a vision of faith. His always luminous and hopeful thinking will continue to inspire many.
Those who knew him highlight not only his wisdom, but also his closeness, humility, and joy. This is expressed in the numerous messages that have filled social media after the news of his passing: “He leaves us a life filled with fruit,” “Thank you for teaching us to look at life with hope,” “A brilliant mind, a simple and generous heart.”
Today we thank God for Edistio’s life. For all he was, for all he did, and for all he leaves us. We pray for the comfort of his family, for the eternal rest of his soul, and that many will follow his example: to educate with the heart, to serve from faith, and to educate with love.
Rest in peace, Edistio. You will continue to teach us from Heaven.
Francisco Bobadilla: “Dear Edistio: I am deeply saddened to learn of your passing. It’s hard to accept this. Your work in education, your entrepreneurial capacity to promote lifelong learning for children and adults, and your passionate love of freedom in pursuit of a leading role in civil society are a testament to the magnanimity of your character. Your kind and affable demeanor endowed you with admirable dignity.
We have shared projects and had long conversations to reflect on Peru and education. You have left behind a series of educational and cultural initiatives that will continue to sow Peruvian identity and a good life. You have borne witness as a Christian gentleman, and one can see the trail of peace and joy that has opened up in your wake. Rest in peace, dear Edistio. And a big hug to heaven.”
Jaime Millás Mur: “I’m copying your introductory remarks from your blog. “My name is Edistio Cámere, a Peruvian psychologist and educator with more than 27 years of experience in the field of education, and I’d like to tell you a little about myself.
I firmly believe that education is both an art and a science. I also believe in the transcendent role of the teacher; a person who has the privilege of writing the biography of each of their students.
For this reason, I launched my blog, Entre Educadores, in 2009, where I seek to communicate and exchange experiences and knowledge on topics related to education, values, and family. I have also written seven books on these topics, which I feel strongly about.
Regarding my professional experience, I hold a Master’s degree in Philosophical Anthropology from the University of Piura. I am a lecturer in the areas of Pedagogical Anthropology, Institutional Management, and Family.
I direct the Civil Association for the Promotion and Human Formation (PROFORHUM), and I served as General Director of the Santa Margarita School for 25 years.
I decided to open this account to share my knowledge and experiences with new generations and those passionate about education. Thank you for reading. Warm regards.”
My tribute to a great and dear friend. May you please rest in peace.”
Adecopa: “Today, with great sadness, we must bid farewell to a great friend, founder of ADECOPA, a pillar of our community, and a benchmark for education in our country.
Edistio, your legacy and teachings will always remain with those of us who had the honor of sharing with you.
Our prayers and thoughts are with your loved ones.
Thank you very much for everything!
Farewell!”
