Young mother donates organs, bringing hope to four families
An act of love and life
State of Mexico.- The death of a 32-year-old mother left pain among her loved ones, but also a story of solidarity that will allow other people to continue with their own life stories.
In the State of Mexico, the woman’s family decided to respect the wish she had expressed while alive: to be an organ and tissue donor.
Thus, in the midst of mourning, his loved ones authorized the procurement of two kidneys and two corneas.
The procedure was performed by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) State of Mexico East
Thus, the organs were destined for patients requiring a transplant and were transferred to the High Specialty Medical Units of the National Medical Center “Siglo XXI” and the National Medical Center “La Raza”.
Behind this donation is a family story marked by loss
It should be mentioned that the young woman suffered from a heart condition that caused an arrhythmia that was difficult to control.
She received medical attention at the IMSS General Hospital No. 76, where specialists managed to resuscitate her heart.
However, she was later diagnosed with brain death
Furthermore, for her family members, one of the most difficult moments then began: saying goodbye to a young woman, a mother, and a loved one.
And on the other hand, they made the decision to respect what she had chosen while she was still alive.
The decision allowed, amidst the pain, a possibility to emerge for other people waiting for a transplant.
Likewise, and before the organ and tissue donation, doctors, nurses, family and friends participated in an honor guard to say goodbye to her.
Applause and cheers accompanied his departure as a sign of respect, recognition, and gratitude.
In addition, Dr. Tanya Hernández Navarrete, hospital coordinator of Organ and Tissue Donation for Transplantation Purposes at General Hospital Zone No. 68, acknowledged the family’s decision and coordinated the participation of the multidisciplinary team in charge of the procedure.
In turn, each donation represents a different story and, in this case, the will expressed by a 32-year-old woman transcended the moment of her death to become an opportunity for other people.
Organ donation does not eliminate the pain of a family that loses a loved one. Nor does it make saying goodbye any less difficult.
But it allows that, even in the midst of irreparable loss, a part of that story continues to accompany other families.
Likewise, those who wish to become voluntary donors can consult information from the National Transplant Center (Cenatra) about the process and how to express their willingness to donate.
Furthermore, this young mother’s story serves as a reminder that behind every donation there are people, families, decisions, and goodbyes. And that talking about transplants also means talking about solidarity, respect, and human dignity.
