When Faith Is the Message
The Digital Missionaries Encounter Launches in Argentina
The International Meeting of Digital Missionaries and Communicators will be held in Argentina on June 6 and 7, 2026. Convened by the Schoenstatt Communications Team, the meeting aims to foster reflection and training on evangelization within the digital culture. The initiative will bring together digital missionaries, influencers, pastoral leaders, and Church communication teams from ten American countries in a space for discernment and training to address the challenges of our time.
The proposal stems from a central conviction: the digital world is not merely a tool, but a cultural sphere where the Church is called to proclaim the Gospel. The digital mission is understood as a pillar of contemporary evangelization, given that millions of people inhabit social networks and virtual environments daily. In this context, the Church seeks to reach out to those who live connected, using a language that is both accessible and meaningful.
From this perspective, the organizers emphasize that this is a prophetic mission, in which creativity, education, and spiritual life are integrated to infuse digital culture with Gospel values. The challenge is not only technical but also pastoral: to accompany a changing era and to showcase a vibrant, youthful Church capable of engaging with the needs of today’s world.
Throughout this process, the initiative has been accompanied by Monsignor Lucio Ruiz, Secretary of the Dicastery for Communication, who has provided guidance and pastoral vision through various training opportunities, including a series of webinars inspired by the Jubilee of Digital Missionaries and Catholic Influencers . His presence has been key to deepening the evangelizing purpose of this initiative.
The call to action reflects the growing ecclesial awareness of the importance of communication in mission. On several occasions, Pope Leo XIV encouraged communicators to be witnesses of hope and closeness, reminding them that Christian communication must “touch hearts and foster encounter,” and inviting them to proclaim the Gospel with truth and charity amidst the new languages of our time.
The meeting also includes a pre-meeting on June 5th to welcome participants, followed by two days of intensive work, with training sessions, dialogue, and prayer. Pastoral agents and communication professionals from various countries are expected to participate, giving the event an international and synodal character.
Among the guests are digital missionaries, community managers, influencers, and community leaders who wish to better understand the pastoral value of online presence. The intention is to create a space for exchange where concrete experience is combined with theological and pastoral reflection.
“Reaching the soul is the mission,” the organizers explain, summarizing the spirit behind the event. It’s not just about producing content, but about supporting processes, listening, building community, and opening paths to meaning within people’s everyday lives.
In a time when digital communication permeates all aspects of social life, the Church seeks to renew its presence and its language, aware that the proclamation of the Gospel now also takes place through screens. The meeting in Argentina will, in this sense, be an opportunity to renew the missionary commitment and strengthen communion among those who evangelize in the digital age.
Given the importance of youth participation, the organizers offer scholarships for those who cannot cover the costs of the event.
