We are alive…!
Being ME, Doing WITH YOU, Sharing with ALL
“This weekend we experienced a historic event in the present.”
More than a million young people from over a hundred countries made a pilgrimage to Rome to celebrate the Jubilee of Hope. All of them were summoned by Pope Leo XIV.
Youth, divine treasure, the poet would say…
A treasure because it is the present and future of a Europe wounded but not defeated. Hope rises from the ashes: resilience, in its purest form, without fear, with joy, sharing a common destiny and origin.
Arrows straight to the heart
At the Saturday vigil, three young people asked the Pope a question.
Dulce María, a young Mexican woman, opened the dialogue:
“We are children of our time, living in a culture that belongs to us and, without realizing it, shapes us. It is shaped by technology, especially in the realm of social media. We thrive on many friends and relationships, but we often experience various forms of loneliness. Close and connected, but often with fleeting and illusory ties.”
And he dared to ask:
How can we find sincere friendship and genuine love that leads us to true hope?
How can faith help us build the future?
Alerting our hearts…
The Pope replied:
… Human relationships are indispensable for each of us
Life begins with a bond. Every man and woman in the world is born as a child of “SOMEONE.” Through those bonds, we grow.
Culture is the code with which we understand ourselves and interpret the world… We don’t just receive it: we transform it with our life choices.
Truth unites words with things, names with faces; lies separate and confuse.
Today, social media is both an opportunity and a risk.
Also, as you know, today there are algorithms that tell us what to watch, what to think, and who our friends should be…
“When the instrument dominates the human being, the human being becomes an instrument, and in turn, a commodity. Only sincere relationships and stable bonds forge stories of a good life.”
FRIENDSHIP, a shared melody “Every person yearns for a good life. How difficult it is to find true friendship!”
Saint Augustine expressed it centuries ago:
“No friendship is faithful except in Christ.”
To truly love a friend is to love God in the friend.
Friendship with Christ is our North Star.
If our friendships reflect that bond, they will always be sincere, generous, and true.
Pier Giorgio Frassati wrote it clearly:
“Living without faith, without fighting for the Truth, is not living, but just getting by.”
In summary
Dear young people, love one another. Love one another in Christ.
Know how to see Jesus in others.
Friendship can truly change the world.
Friendship is the path to peace.
Something is moving in the world!
We live in gerund…
Loving, forgiving, rectifying and
We die in every motionless present, full of uselessness. (“The Self and Its Metaphors”)
We are alive…!
Be ME, Do WITH YOU, Share with EVERYONE.
