United in Prayer: Monasteries and Convents Open Their Doors for Lent
More than 120 monastic communities in Spain invite you to a unique spiritual experience on March 27
In an increasingly fast-paced world, Lent calls us to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what is essential. This year, more than 120 monasteries and convents throughout Spain open their doors to invite us to a profound and transformative spiritual experience. On March 27, at 7:00 p.m., these contemplative communities await us to pray together in an initiative promoted by the DeClausura Foundation.
This event, now in its second year, seeks to highlight the importance of prayer in our personal lives, in the Church, and in the world. Inspired by Pope Francis’ message for this liturgical season, which invites us to be “artisans of unity” and to walk together in synodality, these communities offer us a space for silence, recollection, and communion.
From the Augustinians to the Trinitarians, including Carmelites, Poor Clares, Benedictines, and many other orders, each participating monastery and convent becomes a beacon of spiritual light. In their churches, cloistered monks and nuns will share Vespers with the faithful, a sacred moment to raise our hearts to God, give thanks for His wonders, and present our concerns and desires.
The DeClausura Foundation facilitates this experience by offering a liturgical guide for those who wish to follow the prayer from home. Additionally, the complete list of the 124 participating monasteries and convents, distributed throughout the autonomous communities of Spain, can be found on their website.
This initiative is not only an opportunity to draw closer to God, but also to discover the spiritual richness of contemplative communities, true schools of prayer. In a world that often distracts us, this Lenten gathering invites us to “flee, be silent, and pray,” following the example of Jesus in the desert.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to live a profound spiritual experience. Whether in person or from your home, join this great chain of prayer that unites all of Spain in the same spirit of faith and hope.
We look forward to seeing you on March 27th at 7:00 PM!
