The Soul in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

We’re in the age of artificial intelligence. And the truth is, it’s already starting to affect me. It’s starting to affect me because I’m seriously considering what work is, what things I should do because artificial intelligence won’t do them.

And that has led me to discover the soul, to discover my capacity to love, to discover my capacity to be free, and to discover my capacity for contemplation. These are three operations that artificial intelligence will never perform.

It has also led me to realize the importance of social relationships, in relationships not with objects, but with people. And to give more importance to leisure than to business. That was the great distinction in Roman law: leisure belongs to free beings, as opposed to business, which belongs to those who have no leisure time because they must earn a living.

We’re going to discover artificial intelligence, we’re going to apply it well, we’re going to discover the idea of the soul, we’re going to discover the spiritual being within us. And then, the era of artificial intelligence will be a great era for humanity.
