The price of your existence has already been paid (and it’s not measured in likes)

Forget the world's labels: why your true worth is immeasurable and how to reclaim the peace that has been stolen from you

The price of your existence has already been paid (and it’s not measured in likes)

How many times have you looked in the mirror, or reviewed your life in the silence of your room, while a voice whispers in your ear:  “Aren’t you enough?

It’s a silent pain. That heartbreaking feeling that, no matter how hard you try, you’ll never reach the finish line; that hidden fear that if people knew the real you, with all your insecurities and flaws, no one would ever love you. Waking up every morning feeling like you have to earn the right to be loved and valued is, quite simply, exhausting.

If you’ve ever felt this way, you need to stop. It’s time to silence that voice that’s dragging you down and listen to a truth that will shatter all your preconceived notions.

The toxic lie of the price tag

We live immersed in a culture that has convinced us of a very dangerous lie: that our value is like a price tag that goes up or down according to the market.

If you’re successful, have a partner, and a perfect physique, it seems like you’re worth a lot. But if you fail, feel alone, or have hurts, society makes you feel worthless. This is the enemy’s great strategy to weaken you.

But the reality is different. You are not your flaws, your failures, or your insecurities. You are defined by your loves, your desires, and your capacity to love. You are a precious pearl, a rough diamond that only needs polishing to shine with its full brilliance.

God doesn’t tell you He loves you  “when you behave well”  or  “when you’re the prettiest .” He loves you unconditionally because you are His daughter. In the book of the prophet Isaiah, He says words that I hope you will engrave on your heart:  “I have taken you in the palm of my hand. You are precious to me. You are beautiful. I love you. You are mine . “

Jesus knows perfectly well what shames you, your fears and your insecurities. And, even knowing all that, he decided that it was worth giving his life for you.

The mistake of seeking infinite love in finite things

The biggest problem with feeling inadequate is that we try to quench an endless thirst for love with things that are fleeting: the approval of others, a partner,  social media likes  , or imposed goals. The world can’t give you unconditional love because it doesn’t have it. Therefore, the solution to that emptiness isn’t to look in the mirror and repeat an empty self-help mantra a thousand times. The solution is to lift your gaze to the Father.

We all need healthy self-esteem to live, but the problem is where we build it. If you base your life on your abilities, your physical appearance, success, or what others think, you’ll live with anxiety and sadness. The day you make a mistake or the day they no longer like you, your whole world will crumble. That’s like building a house on sand.

The proposal is to build on solid rock, and that rock is God. He is the only one who never fails. He is a God who loves you exactly the same in your days of glory as in your days of failure. You are not an accident of nature, nor are you here by chance; you are the project of love and salvation of a Father who has a dream for your life.

The only one who never fails in this life is Jesus. Sometimes we may feel broken or insignificant, but to Him we are everything. The key to healing the wound of inadequacy is simply learning to let ourselves be loved by God and accepting that, even with our shortcomings, we are infinitely valuable.

Stop trying to earn what you already have for free.

At baptisms, when children are asked how much the baby being baptized is worth, some say a thousand euros, others ten thousand… but there is always a little sister or cousin who answers with the absolute truth:  “He is worth infinity, he is priceless . ”

The value of something is measured by what someone is willing to pay for it. What are you worth? You are worth the blood of Christ on the cross. That is your price. Your dignity is immeasurable; it cannot be negotiated, gained, or lost.

Therefore, when dark moments arrive and you feel worthless, make the sign of the cross and remember your true value. Stop trying to earn a love that has already been given to you freely. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone.

When that dark voice returns to tell you that you are not enough, don’t argue with it. Simply look at a crucifix and say to your own heart,  “There is proof of my worth. I am a child of God, my Father loves me unconditionally, Christ gave his life for me, and that is enough for me . “

Try to live by putting love into everything you do, giving thanks for your abilities and the good things in your life. As that wise priest said when asked how he was doing:  “I don’t know right now… some things are going well and others not so well, I don’t think much about myself, but I only know one thing: that God loves me unconditionally and I try to glorify Him with my life .” What rest and what peace to live like that. Remember your worth and never forget it: God loves you, and He wants you to be happy.
