The Pope conveys support and prayers to the parish priest of Gaza
Pope Leo XIV's telephone conversation with the parish priest of Gaza: "He assured Father Gabriel and all those who come to the parish of his closeness and prayers"
Pope Leo XIV spoke by telephone this Tuesday, September 16, with the parish priest of Gaza, Father Gabriel Romanelli, according to the Holy See Press Office. The priest briefed him on the current situation, and the Pontiff expressed his closeness and concern, assuring him of his prayers.
“This morning, from Castel Gandolfo, the Pope had a telephone conversation with the parish priest of Gaza, Father Gabriel Romanelli, who informed him of the situation. The parish continues to assist the approximately 450 people who have been given asylum and those who come to it, distributing food and water and keeping the internal pharmacy open. The oratory also continues its activities, with children and young people and assisting the elderly and the sick, despite the intensification of the conflict. The Pope expressed his concern about what is happening and assured Father Gabriel and all those who come to the parish of his closeness and prayers,” reported Matteo Bruni, director of the Holy See Press Office.
Through his X and Instagram accounts, Father Romanelli yesterday posted a video in which the bombing can be heard while a liturgy was being celebrated in the parish. Less than 30 seconds in which the thunder of an attack interrupts the silence of the faithful.
