The importance of prayer and mercy for the forces of law and order
Holy Mass for the Vatican Gendarmerie Corps
This afternoon, at the Grotto of Lourdes in the Vatican Gardens, the Holy Father Francis presided over the Eucharistic Celebration for the Vatican Gendarmerie Corps, on the occasion of the feast day of Saint Michael the Archangel, patron and protector of the Italian State Police and the Vatican Gendarmerie Corps, which falls on 29 September.
The Eucharistic celebration was a significant event that reaffirmed the Pope’s commitment to the safety and well-being of the members of the Vatican Gendarmerie Corps.
In his homily, Pope Francis stressed the importance of prayer for those who serve in public order. Prayer, he said, gives them the strength and wisdom they need to perform their duty with honour and uprightness.
