The Holy Father, Pope Francis, having had to renew the Council of Cardinals because the mandate of the previous one had expired, has appointed the following Cardinals to the new Council
Most Eminent Card. Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State;
Most Eminent Card. Fernando Vérgez Alzaga, L.C., President of the Pontifical Commission for Vatican City State and President of the Governorate of Vatican City State;
Most Eminent Card. Fridolin Ambongo Besungu, O.F.M. Cap., Archbishop of Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo);
Most Eminent Card. Oswald Gracias, Metropolitan Archbishop of Bombay (India);
Most Eminent Card. Seán Patrick O’Malley, O.F.M.Cap., Metropolitan Archbishop of Boston (United States of America);
Most Eminent Card. Juan José Omella Omella, Metropolitan Archbishop of Barcelona (Spain);
Most Eminent Card. Gérald C. Lacroix, Archbishop of Québec (Canada);
Most Eminent Card. Jean-Claude Hollerich, S.I., Archbishop of Luxembourg (Luxembourg);
Most Eminent Card. Sérgio da Rocha, Metropolitan Archbishop of São Salvador da Bahia (Brazil).
The Secretary will be H.E. Msgr. Marco Mellino, tit. Bishop of Cresima (Italy).
The next meeting will be held on 24 April at 9 a.m. at Casa Santa Marta.
