The Gospel in Three Months: Much Easier Than You Think
You only need five minutes a day to read the four most important books in history
Sometimes we think that reading the Gospels is very complicated because they are so long, and that we’ll never have time to read them all. But appearances can be deceiving. We can start by reading the Gospel of Mark, the shortest of them all. It has sixteen chapters. They are all very similar in length; I’ve tested it, and if you dedicate five minutes a day to reading one chapter, in just sixteen days you’ll have read the entire life of Jesus. But the other Gospels are also short. The one with the most chapters is Matthew, with twenty-eight; Luke has twenty-four, and John twenty-one. That is to say, if we add up the chapters of the four Gospels, they total eighty-nine. If we continue reading, after reading Mark, five minutes each day, in less than three months we will have read everything Jesus wants from us. And the more often we read them, the better we will know Jesus. They are very brief, and reading them is always the best choice because they are the most important books. Once again, brevity is the soul of wit.
