Pope Leo XIV to Catholic Communicators: “Be Agents of Communion”
From influencers to Catholic universities, the Pope calls to communicate life, truth, and unity in a world wounded by the throwaway culture
Pope Leo XIV has addressed a series of profound messages to Catholic communicators: from so-called “influencers” to those responsible for academic institutions, as well as all those who use digital language as a means of evangelization.
During a meeting with young digital missionaries, Leo XIV urged us not to be “influencers of ourselves,” but true “agents of communion.” For the Pope, online it’s not enough to accumulate likes or followers; the essential thing is to build bridges, raise real questions, and open paths of meaning. In his words: “It’s not about selling a product, but about bearing witness to a presence.”
This same call to communication in the service of life and truth was expressed in his reflection on the “culture of death,” so prevalent in our time. The Pope forcefully denounced the relativism, superficiality, and individualism that threaten to empty the human heart. In response, he proposed recovering a “culture of life,” where the other is not seen as an enemy or a competitor, but as a gift and a calling.
