Pope Leo XIV Promotes Hope and Solidarity: Health, Communication, and Migration
The Pontiff received representatives of the Latin American and Caribbean Medical Confederation and the Daughters of St. Paul, and participated in the international conference on migrants and refugees
On Thursday, October 2, 2025, Pope Leo XIV held an intense day of meetings at the Vatican, focusing on health, communication, and human rights.
This morning, the Pontiff received representatives of the Latin Ibero-American and Caribbean Medical Confederation (CONFEMEL). In his message, he emphasized that “an algorithm can never replace a gesture of closeness,” underscoring the importance of human relationships in medicine in the face of technological advances. He also recalled the testimony of Blessed José Gregorio Hernández as an example of service and dedication to one’s neighbor.
In the afternoon, the Pope met with the Daughters of St. Paul on the occasion of their 12th General Chapter, celebrating 110 years since their founding. He encouraged them to “look to heaven and live history,” inviting them to keep their communicative charism alive with two essential attitudes: looking to the Holy Spirit as their guide and immersing themselves in the concrete reality of humanity to proclaim the hope of the Gospel.
Finally, the Pontiff participated in the international conference on migrants and refugees, where he expressed his concern about the “impotence” of the international community in the face of migration crises. He called for concrete action and solidarity, urging governments and organizations to work together to find lasting solutions that respect human dignity.
