Pope Francis Improves and Prays for Myanmar Earthquake Victims
The Pontiff Continues His Recovery at the Vatican While Maintaining Closeness to Those Suffering from the Recent Natural Disaster in Southeast Asia
Pope Francis continues his recovery at Casa Santa Marta following his recent hospitalization for double pneumonia. According to the Holy See Press Office, the Pontiff shows “slight improvements” in his mobility, breathing, and speech. Blood tests performed on Wednesday showed normal values, indicating a positive evolution in his health.
During his convalescence, Francis has been briefed on the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar and Thailand, causing numerous casualties and property damage. Deeply moved by the tragedy, the Pope has offered prayers for those affected, expressing his spiritual closeness to the communities struck by the disaster.
Since his return to the Vatican, the Holy Father continues to receive physical and respiratory therapies and remains under treatment for a respiratory fungal infection. Although his condition is showing signs of improvement, doctors recommend at least two months of rest and recovery, avoiding large gatherings and significant exertion.
The Catholic community and faithful around the world remain attentive to the Pope’s health, joining in prayer for his speedy and full recovery, as well as for the victims of the recent earthquake in Southeast Asia.
