Pope at Gemelli Hospital: Slight Improvement
March 11 Afternoon Update: During the day, he continued his therapies and high-flow oxygen therapy
Pope Francis is showing signs of improvement in his health, although his condition remains delicate. According to information provided by the Holy See Press Office, the Pontiff, hospitalized at the Gemelli Hospital since February 14, continues with the prescribed treatments and high-flow oxygen therapy. No new medical report has been issued due to the stability of his condition.
Despite his hospitalization, during the day he followed the Spiritual Exercises via videoconference from the Paul VI Hall, where the Roman Curia also offered prayers for his recovery. In the chapel of his room, the Pope dedicated time to prayer and received the Eucharist, without receiving visitors, in keeping with the nature of these days of meditation.
The medical team treating him has indicated that his progress is positive despite a still complex condition. A further update on his condition is expected on March 12, when more details will be provided. In view of his recovery and the ongoing Spiritual Exercises, the catechesis at the general audience scheduled for this week has been canceled.
