Peter’s Return to Our Land
An invitation to support Pope Leo XIV through the power of prayer and daily offerings
With the upcoming visit of Pope Leo XIV, it is fitting that we show our gratitude for his time with us. Fifteen years after Benedict XVI’s last visit, we have the opportunity to accompany Leo XIV during his stay in Spain. I believe it is no exaggeration to say that the most important person in the world is visiting us.
The Power of Prayer
The most effective way to support this journey is to pray for him and his intentions. There is a story of an African Bishop who, during a visit to Rome, asked Pius XII if he slept well at night. The Pope replied that he did and wanted to know why he had asked.
The Bishop shared that, since he was a child, he had been taught at home to pray a Hail Mary for the Pope every night. With this prayer, they asked the Virgin Mary to ensure he always slept peacefully, despite his many worries. Many years later, he still maintained this good habit but was curious to know if the petition was yielding results.
A Daily Commitment
There is also a specific prayer for the Holy Father that asks:
“May the Lord preserve him, and give him life, and deliver him not into the hands of his enemies.”
First, we must pray much for the Pope. Second, we should offer our daily tasks for his intentions. It is the very least we can do.
