Pedro del Castillo: “Those who choose family can never go wrong”

Journalist, influencer, new father, and devout Catholic: a rebel who looks for the bright side of things with humor and faith

Pedro del Castillo: “Those who choose family can never go wrong”

Pedro del Castillo is a husband, father, journalist, influencer… but above all, a man who looks on the bright side and shares it with humor. In a recent conversation on the  Rebeldes Podcast , alongside Father Ignacio and Don Pablo López, he shared his perspective on life, faith, and family in a world that often focuses on the negative, the controversial, or the sensational.

From a young age, Pedro learned to look for “hidden beauty” in everyday life. “There’s always something good behind it, even if it’s hard to see,” he explains. He applies this positive outlook to his journalism—first on television and radio, now on social media—to his marriage, and especially to fatherhood. He rejects the trend of only showing exhaustion, complaints, or family conflicts: “Yes, I argue with my wife and I hardly sleep with the children, but that doesn’t change the fact that marriage and life with my kids are wonderful. It’s worth sharing.”

A Joyful Christian. For Pedro, joy is not optional in the Christian life. He quotes the Gospel: “A Christian who is not joyful is not living their relationship with God well, no matter what happens.” He recalls testimonies that deeply touched him: Irene Villa’s radical forgiveness after the attack that changed her life, Águeda and Alejandro’s strength in facing ALS with love and humor, and Juan Martena’s vitality after a serious accident. “Interviewing them was easy: they radiated joy and light. I just had to let them shine.”

Humor as a path

A sense of humor is a key tool in his daily life and communication. “Humor puts things into perspective, takes the drama out of things, and transforms them.” He shares funny anecdotes: singing Real Madrid songs to his son Mateo to help him fall asleep, joking when his wife agrees with him (“What do I do now?”), or responding with a smile to negative comments on social media. “If you respond with joy, you often change the other person. If you get into a fight, you only create destruction.”

Marriage and parenthood: a roller coaster

Pedro got married young (26 years old) in the middle of the pandemic, with masks and a limited number of guests. “I told Bea: the next pandemic will find me with you.” His marriage proposal took place in a sanctuary, with a letter and a ring hidden in his sock. Today, after several years of marriage and with two children (Lola and Mateo), he admits that marriage is “a rollercoaster”: adrenaline rushes, moments of vertigo, but an experience he would repeat a thousand times.

“I’m getting married because I want to love you,” he wrote in that letter. Quick forgiveness, honest communication, not letting resentment snowball, and seeing the other person as a teammate (not an enemy) are his keys. “Exhaustion is the biggest enemy when children arrive, but knowing we’re a team changes everything.”

Trust in God the Father

Fatherhood has helped him understand God better as a Father. “My children ask me for things I think will make them happy, but sometimes I say no out of love. Now I understand that God does the same with me. He knows best.” He trusts completely: “His plan will always be better than mine.”

Journalism that illuminates

In a world of bad news, Pedro focuses on “good news”: volunteers after the DANA storm, stories of overcoming adversity, progress against deforestation… “People are eager for stories of courage. The gospel is the best news: God has risen and loves us.”

Final advice to young people and married couples

To those searching for their “other half” or “soulmate,” Pedro responds realistically: “I don’t believe in a predestined person who takes away your freedom. Look for someone who adds to your life, who makes you a better person, and with whom you can overcome difficulties together. And if you have doubts, remember: those who choose family are never wrong.”

His book,  Diary of a First-Time Father  (Espasa, 2025), captures these experiences with sincerity, humor, and depth. On Instagram and TikTok (@pedrodelcastillo_), he continues to share his daily life: laughter, challenges, faith, and lots of Real Madrid.

Pedro del Castillo shows that being rebellious today can mean getting married young, prioritizing family, seeking what is good, and spreading joy. Because, as he says, “Trust in God, because His plan will always be better than yours.”
