Leo XIV visits Castel Gandolfo a few days before his transfer
Yesterday, July 3, the Pope visited the small citadel in the Lazio region, where he will spend a summer vacation starting next Sunday, to examine the progress of the construction work on Villa Barberini
A visit to examine the state of the works, a few days before the transfer to Villa Barberini, in the Borgo Laudato Si’ of Castel Gandolfo. This is what Pope Leo XIV did on the afternoon of July 3, according to the Holy See Press Office. The Pontiff will travel to the town, 25 kilometers from Rome, on Sunday, July 6, to rest until July 20.
During the 14 days, the Pope will celebrate Mass at the Pontifical Parish of St. Thomas in Villanova on Sunday, July 13, at 10:00 a.m. He will then pray the Angelus in Piazza della Libertà, in front of the Apostolic Palace. On Sunday, July 20, at 9:30 a.m., a new Mass will be celebrated in the Cathedral of Albano, the church assigned to then-Cardinal Prevost in the Consistory for the creation of a cardinal. That same day, at noon, the Pope will pray the Angelus again in Piazza della Libertà; in the afternoon, he will return to the Vatican.
Throughout the month of July, all private audiences will remain suspended, and general audiences will resume only on Wednesday, July 30. In the following days, the Great Jubilee of Youth will take place, at which the Pope is expected to be present.
