God in Opera: An Original Triduum Uniting Music, Faith, and Advent
The Herrera Oria Auditorium hosts a series of three concerts beginning December 3rd, bringing excerpts from great operas into the liturgical season
The Herrera Oria Cultural Foundation (ACdP), the Pablo VI Foundation and the Navarra Opera Foundation have today presented the triduum “GOD in OPERA”, a unique proposal that combines the musical excellence of great opera with the spirituality of the liturgical season.
The series begins on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, the feast day of St. Francis Xavier, Patron Saint of Navarre and of the Missions, with a first concert dedicated entirely to Advent. Two more dates will complete the triduum: February 13 and April 15, 2026.
Each evening, soloists from the Navarra Opera Foundation will perform live, carefully selected excerpts from the great operatic repertoire, each one reflecting the corresponding liturgical moment. The arias and scenes will be accompanied by brief commentaries that will help the audience understand both their original stage context and their spiritual significance.
The chosen venue is the Herrera Oria Auditorium of the Pablo VI Foundation (Juan XXIII Street, 3, Madrid), a space equipped with the latest technological innovations in lighting and sound that will enhance the artistic and contemplative experience.
“We want to offer the public a comprehensive experience: musical beauty, theatrical depth and spiritual profundity,” explain the organizers, who highlight the unique nature of a project that has been reaping success for years and that in this Navarre edition is being launched with the joint support of the three foundations.
