Feedback: Synonymous with Charity

It has been many months since I had the opportunity to share with you an article that I titled: “Feedback as a gift”.

Therefore, now that we are in Christmastime (from Wednesday, December 24, 2025, to January 5, 2026, inclusive) I am going to take the opportunity to share and extrapolate the concept of “prophet” and three works of charity that we can all put into practice.

For us believers, a prophet is a messenger of God, and while there are 14 works of charity in total, including those of body and spirit, in this space I will focus only on three of the spiritual ones, which we can all, without exception, regardless of whether we are believers or not, put into practice in our daily lives.

In that regard, I’d like to tell you that in mid-November, I took a quick trip to Peru. I had promised my mother (who currently lives in Trujillo) that I would visit her and spend a few days with her, and even travel to Chiclayo, the city where I was born and raised. Since we don’t have any immediate family in Chiclayo, we stayed in a hotel for four days and then took taxis to different destinations, such as visiting my mother’s friends, going on excursions, and taking care of some legal matters she had to attend to as a retired teacher in that region.

Likewise, the person who drove us (the taxi driver) in the city of Chiclayo was, in part, the same person. He was an older man (with a good number of years under his belt), as our Argentine friends say, very observant, and he was a silent witness to the lack of patience I was showing my mother.

In this regard, this person took advantage of an opportunity, when we were alone together, to say to me in a calm voice and without any boasting: “Sir, remember that this woman (my mother), when you were little, must have put up with a lot of your conceit.” And then he said nothing more.

That’s why, from this experience I had firsthand a few weeks ago, I’m aware of how much good we can do if we put into practice three works of spiritual charity…

  • Correcting.- If you see someone making a mistake, help them to correct their action, but always with kindness.
  • To advise.- To give good advice or to invite reflection.
  • To teach.- To teach those who do not know, since we can all, without exception, be ignorant of a specific topic or activity.

By now, you’ve probably thought, “Hmm, aha! This isn’t so difficult, is it?” Well, these are simple things to do. The key is to start practicing them now, in any environment you’re in—whether it’s with family, friends, or, of course, at work. Always remember, practice makes perfect.

To wrap things up, I’ll share two quotes that I’m sure will help you reflect:

  1. “Charity never seeks its own comfort” – St. Camillus de Lellis.
  2. “It is easy to make things complicated, but it is difficult to make them simple.” – Friedrich Nietzsche.

Finally, I wish you a spectacular end to 2025 and that 2026 brings lots of good vibes and positive energy to everything you do.

Oh, and don’t forget to keep rowing hard against the current and out to sea!
