The political trial of Robert Bakiewicz

Condemned for defending the church from the assault of the abortionists

On May 15, 2020, on the eve of the centenary of the birth of Karol Wojtyla, Dr. Poltawska launched an appeal from the pages of L’Osservatore Romano: «If we now truly want to honor the centenary of his birth (of John Paul II, editor’s note) and his memory, I see only one way: to convert people so that they understand that every child and every person has the right to life (…) I am sure that an international law banning the killing of unborn children could be a ‘gift’ from humanity to this great man». This “gift” arrived from Poland where on October 22, the day of the liturgical memory of Saint John Paul II, the Polish Constitutional Court ruled that the right to life, protected by the Constitution, is granted to man at every stage of development, in which he has the right to the protection of human dignity, and therefore also in the prenatal period. In this way, the Court sanctioned the unconstitutionality of eugenic abortion, leaving it free and legal only in cases of incest, rape, and danger to the life and health of the mother.

It was a great victory for the culture of life in a world where many countries would like to include the «right to abortion» in their Constitutions. Unfortunately, the very powerful pro-abortion lobbies unleashed a brutal protest in Poland with an unequivocal slogan: «This is war». Behind this protest movement were also the parties then in opposition, who wanted to exploit the opportunity to attack the conservative government of the Law and Justice party. According to the protesters, the verdict of the Constitutional Court was conditioned by alleged pressure from the Catholic Church. For this reason, apart from the attacks on the headquarters of the ruling PiS party, it was precisely the churches and religious symbols that ended up under attack. On Sunday, October 25, 2020, demonstrators disrupted the celebration of Masses, assaulted the faithful, and defaced sacred buildings with offensive and blasphemous inscriptions.

The faithful had to organize themselves to defend the churches and sacred monuments from profanation. Robert Bakiewicz had launched the idea of establishing a new organization whose objectives included the defense of churches (today Bakiewicz is the head of the Border Defense Movement). And a group led precisely by Bakiewicz protected the entrance to the historic Warsaw church, the Holy Cross Church in the center of the Polish capital, from the assault of feminists. One of them, who had forced the police cordon and wanted to demonstrate inside the church, was escorted by Bakiewicz down the stairs, obviously by force, because she was resisting.

And it was this very woman who accused Bakiewicz of assault and of causing her «minor physical harm», filing a lawsuit against him. Six years after these events, on May 28, the verdict arrived: Judge Pilsnik sentenced the leader of the Border Defense Movement to ten months of probation, consisting of unpaid socially useful work. The court also ordered him to pay 5,000 zlotys in compensation to the prosecutor.

«What happened today is an absolute farce and a scandal. Judge Marta Pilsnik pronounced the guilty verdict, shamelessly eluding the truth. When I claimed my rights, I was escorted out of the courtroom by the police for the second time in this trial! We are facing total illegality: the court did not admit my witnesses; the court did not view the video recordings that clearly show what happened. The result? The aggressors of the women’s strike, like Andzelika Domanska, who attacked churches, are considered “victimes”. And the people who defended values, faith, and places of worship are condemned. Criminals in this system can feel safe, while decent people suffer the consequences».

Bakiewicz’s daughter, Blanka, after also being escorted out of the courtroom by the police, wrote on the X platform: «What was done to my father today is not a fair verdict. This is pure and brutal political revenge by the system against a man who had the courage to defend Polish churches and values. They want to intimidate us and take revenge on our family, but they will not succeed. I am deeply shocked by this scandal, but I promise one thing: we will not give up this fight».

Former Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro also reacted to the sentence. This is what he wrote on X about Judge Pilsnik, who issued this scandalous sentence: «Judge Marta Pilsnik is a staunch defender of Brussels’ illegitimate interference in the Polish judicial system. Now it turns out she is an equally staunch defender of the illegitimate disruptions of worship in places of worship. I suspended her for disciplinary reasons in 2021 when she released a prosecutor who had accepted a bribe of one million zlotys to obstruct a murder investigation. Yes, murder! And despite the shocking nature of the case and the evidence of corruption, Pilsnik dismissed the criminal proceedings against the prosecutor suspected of corruption. And now she has condemned Robert Bakiewicz for defending the right of the faithful to peacefully practice their religion in the face of a vulgar and noisy attack by pro-abortion activists. At the same time, he defended the church from vandalism. Anyone who enters the premises of a church and disturbs the peace of people engaged in religious practices, even in prayer, violates their constitutionally guaranteed religious freedom and commits an offense. This applies to all churches in Poland, regardless of religious denomination. The judge knew this perfectly well. She also knew that legitimate defense includes the protection of every legally protected right, including the right to religious freedom and peaceful prayer».

Here is the video that the judge did not want to analyze during the trial, which clearly shows that Domanska, who wanted to enter the church to disrupt the Mass, was taken by the arm and escorted down the stairs. The police present on the spot did not want to intervene. This video shows that not Bakiewicz, but the abortionist woman should have been condemned for the attempt to disrupt the holding of religious services. https://x.com/RBakiewicz/status/2060419010869485890

But it can be seen that in the Poland of Tusk and his Minister of Justice Zurek, the defense of the constitutionally guaranteed rights of the faithful does not count; political vendettas through show trials are what count.
