ROME (March 16, 2023) – As part of our strong commitment to Ukraine and the resilience of the Ukrainian people, the Embassies of the United States, Ukraine, and Poland to the Holy See, in partnership with the Polish Institute of Rome, present a photo exhibit showing the toll Russia’s invasion has taken on ordinary Ukrainians.
The stark and moving photos by Italian photographer Arianna Arcana and Ukrainian photographer Mikhail Palinchak show the brutal realities of Russia’s war. Both photographers, who met on a U.S. Department of State International Visitors Leadership Program in 2021, have been reporting on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for the past year.
The powerful visual images showcase the strength, courage, and resistance of the Ukrainian people, and remind viewers that the most significant consequence of Russia’s invasion is its impact on people – individuals, families, and communities.
The Ambassadors of Ukraine and Poland to the Holy See, and the Chargé d’affaires of the United States to the Holy See will give remarks at the opening of the photo exhibit on March 16 at 5:00 p.m. at the Polish Institute of Rome (Via Vittoria Colonna, 1).
