Third Edition of the International Seminar of Guadalupe: reflection and preparation for the Jubilee 2031

Preparation for the Jubilee 2031: A seminar to deepen the impact of the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe and its relevance for the future of the Church and Latin America

On December 14, the third edition of the International Seminar of Guadalupe will be held. This event is promoted by the Academy of Catholic Leaders with the support of more than 12 Catholic institutions of international scope. This annual meeting has established itself as an essential space to reflect on the mystery of Guadalupe and its impact on the contemporary world.

Within the framework of the Novena of Guadalupe

This seminar is being held as part of the Intercontinental Novena of Guadalupe, convened by Pope Francis in 2022. The purpose of this initiative is to prepare the way for the jubilee of 2031, in which the 500th anniversary of the appearance of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be celebrated, a spiritual and cultural milestone of enormous relevance for the Church and the American continent.

Motto 2024: “Only from our Mother, can we recognize ourselves as brothers

This year’s edition will focus on reflecting on the historical, spiritual and social impact of the Guadalupe event, offering a space for enriching dialogue between different perspectives, all under the protection of the Morenita del Tepeyac.

Words from the General Director

José Antonio Rosas, General Director of the Academy of Catholic Leaders, underlined the relevance of this event:

As an academy, we have welcomed Pope Francis’ call to prepare the way towards the Jubilee of 2031. Year after year, we offer this international space to delve deeper into the mystery of Our Lady of Guadalupe, who as Mother and Queen cares for all her children. This project also connects with our training initiative, Generation Guadalupe 2031, which seeks to prepare a new generation of Catholics committed to the political, social and economic challenges of our region, under the guidance of the Morenita.”

A joint effort

This seminar is the result of collaboration between various Catholic institutions, including the Episcopal Conferences of Mexico and the United States, the Pontifical Commission for Latin America, religious media, educational institutions and lay and consecrated communities.
