“The Sorrows and Joys of Saint Joseph as Seen by Jesus and Mary”: The devotional book that allows you to hear Jesus and Mary speaking about the holy Patriarch
Regino Navarro Rivera publishes a free digital book for praying from March 13 to 19 and preparing for the feast day of March 19, 2026, with a unique dialogue between the Virgin Mary and her Son
Just days before the traditional preparations for the Solemnity of Saint Joseph begin, LaFamilia.info offers all friends of Exaudi a unique spiritual gift: the digital book Sorrows and Joys of Saint Joseph as seen by Jesus and Mary , written by Regino Navarro Rivera.
You can download it for free here: Sorrows and Joys of Saint Joseph 2026
This is not a conventional biography or a historical reconstruction. It is something more intimate and surprising: a contemplation in which the reader enters the home of Nazareth and listens, as if seated at the table, to a tender and profound dialogue between Mary and a young Jesus who, together, recall the sorrows and joys of Joseph, now in Heaven.
The text is structured over seven days (from March 13 to 19), one for each traditional mystery of the Sorrows and Joys of Saint Joseph. Each day includes:
- Biblical accounts of pain and joy
- An imagined but deeply respectful dialogue between Jesus and Mary
- A practical meditation for daily life
- A practical purpose for living that day
- The same closing prayer for every day, which summarizes Josephite spirituality
The book is illustrated with the beautiful ceramics from the Torreciudad Sanctuary and opens with words from Saint Teresa of Jesus —“I do not remember until now having begged him for anything that he has failed to do”— and from Saint Josemaría Escrivá.
In the introduction, the author explains the spirit of the work: “It is not a historical reconstruction, but a loving contemplation. A way of approaching the heart of that righteous man who guarded the Mystery without fully understanding it, but loving it completely.”
The format is specially designed for families: it can be prayed for ten or fifteen minutes, in personal silence or aloud around the table. The purposes are simple and concrete: to obey without complaint, to be grateful for one’s own poverty, to bear witness to the faith, to perform a hidden service, or to dedicate daily time to prayer.
At the end of the book appears the sentence that summarizes the entire message:
“Saint Joseph, faithful father and silent guardian, teach us to trust when we do not understand, to work hard and well when no one is watching, to love quietly, to obey without delay, and to die with a peaceful heart. Pray for families. Pray for mothers and fathers. Pray for the Church. Amen.”
The ebook is completely free and is now available for download at www.lafamilia.info . Simply download it, print it if you wish, or read it on your mobile device, and start on March 13th.
With this proposal, LaFamilia.info and Regino Navarro Rivera invite thousands of Catholic homes to experience the feast of Saint Joseph 2026 not only as a celebration, but as a true school of holiness in the ordinary, hand in hand with Jesus and Mary who tell us about their beloved Joseph.
