The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary: History and Meaning
On October 7, the Church celebrates Our Lady of the Rosary, remembering her intercession in times of difficulty
Our Lady of the Rosary is honored every October 7th, in memory of the Christian victory at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571. Tradition indicates that this victory was achieved through the prayer of the Rosary, demonstrating the efficacy of this devotion and Mary’s maternal care for the Church.
The celebration not only commemorates a historic event but also invites the faithful to renew their commitment to prayer and faith. It is a day to meditate on how the Rosary protects and guides us in difficult moments of life, both personal and collective.
This day is also an opportunity to promote unity and brotherhood among Christians. Praying the Rosary together strengthens the sense of community and reminds us that the Virgin Mary calls us to live in peace and solidarity.
