Solidarity in Times of Crisis: A Gift of Hope for the Children of Valencia

A small gesture, a huge impact

When aid began to be sent to the towns of Valencia after the disaster, Alexia Editorial knew that their possibilities were limited. They are not a large corporation with millions of euros to donate, but they understand that the magnitude of aid is not always measured in money, but in the ability to touch hearts and change lives.

As often happens in these situations, they initially feared that over time we would forget about the needs of these communities. To prevent this from happening, they decided to think about the near future and the first Christmas these families would face after losing everything. They were especially worried about the impact on the children, those who did not appear on television, but who were still there, suffering in silence.

These families, after having lost everything, were not going to be able to receive gifts from the Three Wise Men. So Alexia Editorial was concerned that these children, in addition to the pain of their situation, would also lose their innocence and hope by not receiving the gifts they had longed for. They wanted to do something about it.

So they decided to act. They contacted the Cumbres school in Valencia, an institution committed to the local community, and we organized a book donation campaign. In total, they sent 400 books to three parishes in Valencia, which were selected with the help of the school. This collaboration will allow the books to reach the children who need them most, those whose families have been devastated by the disaster and who will otherwise face a sad and desolate Christmas.

The Cumbres school in Valencia will be in charge of distributing the books at this time and coordinating with the local parishes. They received news of schools in the affected towns that had been devastated, but they knew that eventually those schools would receive subsidies and help. What worried them was the upcoming Christmas.

Alexia Editorial‘s small gesture is a way to ensure that these children do not lose hope or joy in such a special time. They want them to know that they are not alone and that, despite the difficulties, there are still reasons to smile and keep the magic of the Three Wise Men alive.

This initiative teaches us that, although we cannot always change the world with large sums of money, we can make a significant difference with acts of kindness and solidarity. It reminds us that in times of crisis, empathy and mutual support are more valuable than ever.

As we approach the Christmas season, we invite everyone to reflect on how they can contribute to making this world a better place. No matter how small the gesture, what is important is the impact it can have on someone else’s life. Let’s continue working together to build a more hopeful future for everyone.
