Pope Francis has addressed an inspiring video message to young people worldwide, urging them to continue moving forward with joy and courage. This message was recorded by one of the youngest members of the Synod and projected during the briefing in the Vatican Press Room. It was also shared on the website and social media of the Synod’s General Secretariat.
The Pope began his message with a call to action: “Dear young people, one of the most important things is to walk…” Using a metaphor he has used on several occasions, he compared the life of young people to water. “When a young person walks, everything is fine, but when a young person stops… it is like water. When water flows, it is good, but when it stops… it becomes corrupted and is invaded by small ‘beasts’ (animals).”
The video, recorded during a break in the general congregation, reinforces the idea that stagnation harms both water and young people. “Stagnant water is the first to be corrupted. Tired young people are the first to be corrupted,” said Pope Francis. “Go ahead, always walk. Look ahead with courage and joy.”
Francis concluded his message with his usual request: “I greet you. Pray for me.”
This call from the Pontiff seeks to motivate the new generations not to stop, to always maintain a positive attitude, and to continue moving forward in their lives with determination and enthusiasm.
