In a global context marked by conflict, Pope Francis has decided to celebrate a Mass at Rome’s War Cemetery tomorrow, Thursday 2 November, this will be an opportunity to remember the victims of conflict and to call for peace.
This is not the first time he has chosen to mark the occasion with a Mass in a cemetery: in 2018, he celebrated Mass in Rome’s French Military Cemetery, while in 2021 he chose the Laurentian Cemetery.
Today, in his Angelus address, the Pope said that we must continue to pray for those who suffer from wars, as their memory will help us build a future of peace and justice.
Pope Francis has asked the faithful to join him in praying for the victims of conflict and to work for a more peaceful world, and not to forget the martyrs of Ukraine, not to forget Palestine, not to forget Israel, not to forget so many other regions where war still persists.
The mass will be broadcast live on television and radio.
