“We cannot but announce what we have seen and heard”: this is the theme of the Continental Assembly of National Directors of Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in America, which is being held in virtual meeting form from 22 to 27 February reported Fides News Agency.

For the Pontifical Mission Societies in Bolivia, Bishop Waldo Barrionuevo CSsR, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, His Exc. Mgr Adolfo Bittschi, Auxiliary Bishop of Sucre and responsible for the Missions within the Episcopal Conference, as well as Sister Cintia Vásquez, National Coordinator of the Pontifical Mission Societies and collaborators of the National Direction.

Each day begins with a prayer dedicated to a continent. On Monday 22 February, Archbishop Mgr. Giampietro Dal Toso, President of the PMS, shared a time of reflection by encouraging the missionary work of the PMS on the continent. He also thanked for the missionary animation carried out in different ways, according to the missionary charism, and indicated how to carry it out in the current context.

On Tuesday 23 February, the reflection on the theme of the year and on Pope Francis’s Message for Mission Sunday 2021 was held by Fr. Ricardo Guillén (Venezuela). Then followed a path of reflection proposed by the CAM VI-Puerto Rico team, and finally the sharing of the experience of formation and virtual missionary animation carried out by the PMS of Honduras.


On Wednesday 24th, a missionary reflection on the Encyclical “Fratelli Tutti” by Lucas Cerviño is scheduled, followed by the sharing of the experience of formation and virtual missionary animation carried out by the PMS of Costa Rica.

On Thursday 25 February, Fr. Mauricio Jardín will face the missionary challenges of the Synod. This will be followed by a presentation of the fundraising experience by the United States National Direction. Therefore the fundraising webinar and space for sharing.

The last day, Friday 26 February, will constitute an invitation to look towards the First Ecclesial Assembly of Latin America and the Caribbean. A meeting will then take place with the members of CELAM and finally the presentation of Missio Invest from the United States and the closing of the Assembly.
