A remarkable collection of 125 nativity scenes from 20 countries, including three from Poland—Radom, Sierpc and Wadowice—is now on display at the exhibition “100 Nativity Scenes in the Vatican.” The event was officially opened on Sunday, December 8. Visitors can admire the nativity scenes in the left wing of Bernini’s colonnade in St. Peter’s Square.
The Polish nativity scenes were made by the Jacek Malczewski Museum in Radom, the Museum of the Mazovian Countryside in Sierpc and the municipality of Wadowice.
Last year, the exhibition attracted more than 290,000 visitors, and this year’s attendance is expected to surpass that figure. Pope Francis will open the 2025 Jubilee Year on Dec. 24, drawing even more pilgrims to Rome.
In addition to the Polish contributions, this year’s exhibition features nativity scenes from numerous European countries and beyond, including Mali, Taiwan, Paraguay, the Philippines, the United States, and Costa Rica
