“Missionaries as Builders of Peace and Fraternity”

Pope Francis urges missionaries to promote dialogue and solidarity in Africa

Pope Francis has sent an inspiring message to participants in a conference dedicated to missionary activity in Africa, organized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In his message, the Holy Father invites missionaries to become true witnesses of the Gospel, promoting a culture of encounter and respectful dialogue.

The Pope expresses his hope that all those who carry in their hearts the cause of the most needy, as well as the values of solidarity and humanitarian commitment, will feel strengthened in their work. He desires that these missionaries will become authentic operators of peace and fraternity among peoples, especially in regions affected by suffering.

The conference, entitled “Training for development in Africa: the role of the missions,” is taking place in Pescara, Italy. In his message, which was signed by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, the Pope also expressed his gratitude for the holding of this meeting. He stressed the importance of fostering an exchange of experiences between those who are engaged in social and educational matters on the African continent.

In a world where conflicts and divisions are frequent, the Pope’s call to build bridges of dialogue and understanding is more relevant than ever. Missionaries, by living charity and love for their neighbour, are fundamental in promoting lasting peace and establishing fraternity between nations.
