Jesus Christ is risen! Alleluia!: Commentary by Fr. Jorge Miró

Fr. Jorge Miró shares with Exaudi readers his commentary on the  Gospel for Sunday, April 5, 2026,  entitled, “  Jesus Christ has risen!  Alleluia!”

***

Last Sunday, the Word invited you to  ask yourself  how you stand before Jesus at this moment in your life.  In other words:  who is Jesus for you?  A mere historical figure? A “dead man” in the gallery of illustrious men of history?

And I suggested you not rush to answer, but rather  experience Holy Week by walking  with the Lord.  I proposed that you take up your cross and encounter the Lord in it; live in obedience to God’s will and experience His victory in your life; see how the Holy Spirit makes your life new.

Today  the Word makes us an amazing announcement:  Christ is risen, Alleluia! Jesus Christ lives!  We do not follow a dead man, nor an idea. No. We have been reached by a Person,  Jesus Christ,  the Lord, who has conquered death,  lives forever, and invites you to follow him  and live a new life.

Perhaps you are trapped in the tomb of your “deaths”…  Perhaps you are like the women in the gospel, thinking  , “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”  because you feel unable to get out of the tomb.

Or like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, you walk along, taciturn and disillusioned,  because  your eyes were unable to recognize him  and you had drifted away from the community And you live thinking,  “We had hoped that he was going to redeem Israel, but, with all this, it’s already the third day since this happened…”

And  today  the Word tells you that  if you accept the  gift  of the Holy Spirit and can see with the eyes of faith,  you too will have the experience of the women who  saw that the stone had been rolled away, even though it was very large.

You too will hear the voice of the Angel, who tells you:  Do not be afraid.  Jesus Christ has risen Jesus Christ lives and walks with you. You are not alone.

The new life that the Lord gives you is  not  about living  a life different from everyone else’s. We live, like everyone else, with the same problems, the same difficulties, the same anxieties… But we have one very big difference: we don’t experience all of this alone; we experience it  with the Lord  , who is with us every day and who enables us to live all of this in a completely new way.

We experience it with Jesus Christ, who is the light,  and this allows us to live with meaning in everything we experience, not lost, confused, or disoriented, but illuminated by the word of Jesus Christ. A word that has eternal life, a word that gives meaning to everything we experience, a word that shows us each day the path we must walk, the path we must take on our journey toward the goal of heaven.

And  that is why  we no longer live alone, we no longer live lost, we no longer live in constant complaining and murmuring, which is what arises when we cannot find meaning in what we experience, but  we can live in blessing, in gratitude and in praise.

We can live singing Hallelujah in our hearts  because we have truly experienced and continue to experience every day that the Lord is good, that His mercy is eternal, that His right hand is powerful, and that He gives us new life every day.

We can live each day building our lives on the cornerstone, which is the resurrected Jesus Christ.

You too, if you believe, will see the glory of God. You will see your heart burn within you  because the Holy Spirit, the sweet guest of the soul, whispers to you with every beat that God loves you, that Jesus Christ died and rose again for you, bore all your sins, conquered all your “deaths,” and gives you  eternal life.  Life beyond death and beyond your “deaths.”

And then,  when you encounter the Risen Jesus Christ, you will live a new life.  You will live like Jesus, who went about the world  doing good and healing those oppressed by the devil.

You will live  seeking the things above  because you have already experienced that idols may give you some “living” but not  eternal life,  because you know that  your life is with Christ hidden in God.

Take heart!  Open your heart to the living and risen Jesus Christ!  He will give you eternal life. And you will begin to taste it, as a first taste. You will be able to experience Easter every day, the presence of the Lord who walks with you and is with you every day until you reach the goal of heaven and there you can live eternal Easter.

If you believe, you will see the glory of God!

Jesus Christ is risen!  Hallelujah!
