Almeno questo \u00e8 ci\u00f2 che ho cercato di spiegare in un articolo pubblicato sul\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Journal of Business Ethics<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"> , intitolato &#8221; <\/span><\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Humility in Management&#8221; ( <\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s10551-014-2311-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">qui<\/span><\/span><\/a><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"> )<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"> .\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">L&#8217;umilt\u00e0 non gode di una buona reputazione nel mondo degli affari;<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"> \u00a0sembra che un manager umile debba essere timido, riservato, un po&#8217; codardo, qualcuno che si ritrae di fronte agli altri, che non sa prendere decisioni&#8230; insomma, un cattivo leader. Ma proviamo a vedere la cosa da un altro punto di vista.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">L&#8217;umilt\u00e0 ci porta a conoscere noi stessi per come siamo veramente<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"> \u00a0(&#8220;l&#8217;umilt\u00e0 \u00e8 camminare nella verit\u00e0&#8221;, diceva Santa Teresa d&#8217;Avila).\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Ci impedisce di ingannarci esaltando le nostre capacit\u00e0 e i nostri successi, o soffermandoci sulle nostre mancanze.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"> \u00a0Ci aiuta a valorizzare gli altri per quello che sono, senza sminuirli n\u00e9 lodarli, perch\u00e9 non affrontiamo le relazioni come una competizione che alimenta il nostro ego.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Ci apre alle opinioni altrui, il che ci aiuta a conoscere meglio noi stessi.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"> \u00a0Consideriamo il comportamento di un manager umile all&#8217;interno di un team: come ascolta gli altri (che avranno pur qualcosa di prezioso da dire, no?), come valuta le loro opinioni, come li incoraggia a contribuire, come delega, come ammette i propri errori e si assume la responsabilit\u00e0 degli errori del team, come riconosce i successi del team quando questi vengono raggiunti&#8230;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">S\u00ec,\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">\u00e8 probabile che un manager umile sia un buon manager<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"> . Naturalmente, le modalit\u00e0 con cui ci\u00f2 si manifesta sono molto personali, quindi, ad esempio, non credo sia corretto affermare che un manager umile generer\u00e0 profitti maggiori; questo pu\u00f2 essere vero o meno, e la qualit\u00e0 professionale, umana e morale di un manager non dipende dal risultato finale. N\u00e9 dalle opinioni altrui.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">In questo articolo, propongo alcuni spunti per <\/span><\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">\u00a0sviluppare l&#8217;umilt\u00e0.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"> \u00a0E giungo a una conclusione che mi \u00e8 sempre sembrata fondamentale quando si parla di virt\u00f9:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">solo chi osa metterle in pratica capir\u00e0 perch\u00e9 sono un bene<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"> \u00a0per s\u00e9 stessi, per gli altri, per l&#8217;azienda e per la societ\u00e0. Finch\u00e9 si continuer\u00e0 a considerare l&#8217;andamento del mercato azionario come misura del successo, o finch\u00e9 si continuer\u00e0 a pensare che il giudizio altrui sia la cosa pi\u00f9 importante per la propria carriera, sar\u00e0 pi\u00f9 difficile comprendere perch\u00e9 sia \u200b\u200bnecessario essere umili.
