Hi! I am a woman and a mother, and I work inside and outside the home. Yes, the one who runs around with a baby in her arms while holding the phone to her ear and somehow manages to make a decent dinner (even if it’s sometimes cereal and milk). If you identify with this, welcome to the club. If not, stay anyway, because this is going to bring a smile to your face… or at least a “My God, how does she do it!”
Let’s start in the morning. Have you ever tried waking a teenager who seems to have fused with the mattress? I have. It’s like trying to resurrect Lazarus but with no miracle in sight. Then there’s the little one, who decides that 6:00 a.m. is the perfect time to practice his imitation of a rooster. Meanwhile, with my eyes half closed, I try to remember if I put the coffee in the pot or if I just dreamed that I did.
Working outside the home is another chapter. I am the queen of multitasking there: I answer emails and take calls, and in my mind, I am already planning what I am going to cook for dinner (spoiler: sometimes it ends up being pizza). But it is not all stress. There are moments that make me laugh, like when my boss asks me if I can stay late, and I answer: “Sure, as long as I take my son to football from here.”
At home, things are no less intense. Between helping with schoolwork (who invented modern mathematics, by the way?) and doing laundry that seems to reproduce itself, sometimes I feel like my life is a reality show. But in chaos, there are moments of grace. Like when my little son says to me: “Mom, you are the best… but why don’t you cook like grandma?” Thanks, honey, that boosts my self-esteem.
And even though I sometimes feel like a juggler in a circus, I remember that God has a very particular sense of humor. He gave me this life full of challenges, but also full of blessings. Every laugh, every hug, every “I love you, Mom” is a reminder that, even if I’m not perfect, I’m doing something right.
So, if you feel overwhelmed today, remember: you’re not alone. We are an army of women who, between meetings, diapers, children and husband, are building a legacy of love, effort and faith. And if someone asks you how you do it, answer with a smile: “With a lot of coffee, a little madness and the grace of God.”
Oh! And if you see a woman running with a shoe in one hand and a package of diapers in the other, say hello. It could be me… or any other superhero disguised as a working mom.
Cheer up, queen! Heaven already has a crown in store for you… and maybe even a cup of eternal coffee. ☕👑
