Next Wednesday, July 10, the International Network of Catholic Women Leaders and the International Academy of Catholic Leaders will present the international launch of the book “Gender, Youth and Church” by Dr. Marta Rodríguez. The event will be held through the Zoom platform and will feature an outstanding panel of guests, including Cardinal Daniel Sturla, Archbishop of Montevideo; Sister Daniela Cannavina, General Secretary of the CLAR; and Paola Binetti, child neuropsychiatrist and psychotherapist.
Marta Rodríguez, author of “Gender, Youth and Church”, reveals that her motivation for writing this book initially arose from “a direct request from the publishing house Encounter Editions.” However, beyond this request, Rodríguez felt “a deep personal desire to capture the lessons learned throughout numerous courses taught in various contexts and before diverse audiences, including parents, educators, and young people.” According to Rodríguez, there is “a significant generational fracture in terms of understanding gender, with notable differences in sensitivities, values, and perspectives.” Her main objective with this work is “to build bridges and create common ground that facilitates constructive dialogue between generations.” Additionally, the author was moved by “the direct request from young people during the 2018 Synod, who expressed the need for clear and empathetic guidance from the Church on issues of gender and homosexuality,” a request that resonated deeply with his written work.
José Antonio Rosas, general director of the International Academy of Catholic Leaders, highlights the importance of this event: “For us, it is an honor to be a space that promotes this important work of Doctor Marta Rodríguez. In her work, both pastoral and academic, she wanted to be a bridge on a topic that often generates controversy. With a vision and pastoral mission, she has guaranteed that these issues can be talked about in the Church. The event will be attended by a Cardinal and two great women. They will help us understand and be part of this adventure that Professor Marta invites us to with her book.”
The event will take place at different times depending on the country:
- 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. – Mexico and Central America
- 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Colombia, Peru and Ecuador
