Gospel Reflection
In the Gospel of Matthew 1:18-24, it is told how Saint Joseph, upon learning of Mary’s pregnancy, decides to withdraw in silence so as not to shame her. Still, the angel of the Lord appears to him in a dream and explains to him that the child Mary is carrying is the Messiah, and that he must take her as his wife. Joseph, faithful to the will of God, obeys and accepts the mission entrusted to him.
The purpose for the day
Today, reflect on your willingness to obey God’s will. Spend prayer and ask God to give you the grace to follow his will with faith and courage, as Saint Joseph did.
How to live Christmas as a family
As a family, talk about Saint Joseph’s obedience and his trust in God. They can reflect on how to live more fully in harmony with God’s plans for each one, and how that commitment strengthens the family unit.
Prayer for the day
“Lord Jesus, help me to trust fully in your will and to follow your path with faith and courage. Bless my family, and may we walk together in this time of Advent, always open to your will. Amen.”
