Are women born or made?, new ACdP campaign for 8-M

The Catholic Association of Propagandists has launched a new campaign this year, on the occasion of March 8, with the slogan “Are women born or made?”.

The campaign starts with a question to invite reflection on a highly sensitive issue in our society, and which fully compromises the dignity of women.

It also raises the need to not close, from reductionist approaches, a debate with profound anthropological, social, educational, philosophical and even economic implications.

The campaign contrasts and underlines the dilemma put forward in 1949 by the historic feminist figure Simone de Beauvoir – “One is not born a woman: one becomes one” – to emphasise the fact that, although the feelings and decisions of the individual can influence their life, the nature of reality cannot be altered at the whim of the subject, even if currents of thought, philosophical fashions or activist praxis claim so.

Furthermore, it seeks to put on the table the importance of giving voice to experts, who can enrich the whole of the Spanish population with their formed vision, while alluding to the more than worrying censorship attempts of those who seek to impose a single vision on the reality of female nature.

In this way, and on the occasion of the claims around 8-M, the Catholic Association of Propagandists addresses the question of the nature of women from the anthropological premises that are legitimately proposed by the Magisterium of the Catholic Church, always for the good of the person and society.

The poster does not incorporate an image, but uses the black and purple tones typical of the feminist movement, and can be seen on hundreds of bus shelters and billboards in 44 municipalities throughout Spain such as Seville, Madrid or Zaragoza.

In detail, the municipalities throughout Spain where the campaign can be seen are: Santander, Gijón, Oviedo, Valladolid, Burgos, Córdoba, Zaragoza, Huesca, Madrid, Zamora, Ávila, Algeciras, Cádiz, Málaga, Estepona, Marbella, Sevilla, Camas, Dos Hermanas, Tomares, Utrera, Valencina de la Concepción, Huelva, Jaén and Mérida.

And within the Community of Madrid, in Alcorcón, Algete, Arganda del Rey, Boadilla del Monte, Ciempozuelos, El Escorial, Fuenlabrada, Getafe, Leganés, El Molar, Móstoles, Pozuelo de Alarcón, San Sebastián de los Reyes, Torrejón de la Calzada, Tres Cantos, Velilla de San Antonio, Villanueva de la Cañada, Villanueva del Pardillo and Villaviciosa de Odón.

This is the third ACdP campaign on the occasion of 8-M, after those launched in 2024 with the slogan “Isabel, the Catholic, a model woman for the 21st century”, that of 2023 “8-M in favor of family and motherhood”, and that of 2021, “The best woman”, which have accumulated more than 800,000 views on YouTube.
