“The number of souls that have been sanctified by going to the fountain that springs from the Heart of El Salvador is countless,” this is the center of the message sent by Monsignor Francisco Cerro Chaves, Archbishop of Toledo and Primate of Spain, through a Sunday letter entitled “Returning love for love”, on the occasion of June, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in which it invites us to go to the Heart of Christ to “ask for the fruit of communion and holiness.”

The Heart of Jesus, source of apostolic and missionary inspiration

The Archbishop of Toledo, recalling that the jubilee on the occasion of the 350th anniversary of the revelations of the Heart of Christ to Saint Margaret Mary of Alacoque has been celebrated since last December 27 in Paray-le-Monial, France, highlighted that, there are numerous realities of consecrated life that “have found in the Heart of Jesus the sources of apostolic and missionary inspiration of their founders, thousands of families consecrated to the Heart of Jesus have become centers of Christian life.” Likewise, he remembers the existence of apostolic movements and other realities that “have nourished his spiritual life in the spirituality of the Heart of Jesus.”

A diocese with a heart that sets out on a synodal path

In the Letter, Monsignor Cerro Chaves stops at the way in which Pope Francis has defined the Heart of Jesus: “symbol par excellence of Divine Mercy.” In this sense, the Prelate exposes the “innumerable fruits that devotion to the Heart of Jesus has produced in all areas” of his Archdiocese, where it is worth highlighting the erection of the recent diocesan sanctuary of Adoration and Reparation in Oropesa; highlighting, especially, “the blood of our martyrs of the religious persecution of the 20th century, many of them already elevated to the altars.”

The Heart of Jesus, source of evangelization of the poor

Likewise, the Prelate recalls the work of his predecessors regarding the tradition of love for the Heart of Jesus and confesses: “I feel called to energize and promote it in the field of the study of Theology, spirituality and evangelization.” ; remembering, at the same time, some words from his homily on the day of his inauguration as Archbishop of Toledo: “I wish to make our archdiocese a diocese with a Heart that finds in the Merciful Heart of Jesus the source of evangelization of the poor”.

Diocesan celebrations in Toledo

Finally, Monsignor Cerro Chaves recalls that the next Diocesan Synod that the archdiocese of Toledo is preparing to celebrate and invites the faithful to attend the diocesan sanctuary of Eucharistic adoration of Oropesa, the diocesan sanctuary of the Sacred Hearts of Toledo and the parish of the Sacred Heart of Talavera de la Reina, “especially in the celebrations of the First Friday, the feast of Christ the King, the Divine Mercy and the Heart of Jesus of the next year, to ask for the fruit of communion and holiness for the entire archdiocese of Toledo that is puts on a synodal path.”

In this sense, Diocesan Radio Television of Toledo is broadcasting a complete cycle of 15-minute videos about the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with a new video every day, which can be viewed on its YouTube channel.
