A Father’s Letter to God for His Wife and Children

A heartfelt thank you for the blessings of family life and a prayer for divine guidance in the home

Following the Feast of the Holy Family, Laetare brings a father’s letter of thanks to God.

Dear God,

Today, I approach You with a heart full of gratitude and humility, recognizing the wonder of Your love in my life, particularly in my family. I am aware that everything I have and am I owed to You. And for this, I want to offer You these words of thanks, which are not enough to express all I feel.

Thank you to my wife, who has been for me a beacon of love, patience, and wisdom. She, with her tenderness and strength, helps me grow every day, to be a better husband, a better father, and a better man. Her dedication, commitment, and faith are a living reflection of Your goodness. May she always know that she is valuable in Your eyes and that her work, although often invisible, profoundly impacts our family. Help me to be the partner she needs, to support her, and to share our joys and challenges with love and understanding.

Thank you to my children, who testify to Your generosity. Each of them, with their unique personality and their own dreams, teach me something new every day. They help me to be more patient, more compassionate, and more attentive. They remind me that life has a purpose and that my mission as a parent is to guide them with love, to educate them in Your faith, and to help them grow in wisdom and virtue. How beautiful it is to see them laugh, learn, and develop in this world You have created for them.

God, I ask that You continue to guide us on our path. May our family be a refuge of love and peace, a place where Your presence is always alive. In times of difficulty, may we find comfort in You, and in times of joy, may we share that blessing with others.

I also ask You for those parents who struggle in silence, for those who face economic, emotional, or spiritual difficulties. May Your grace strengthen them, and may they find in You the light to move forward.

I thank You, Lord, for each day that You give me with my family. For the gift of being a husband and father, and for the gift of being able to see my children grow under Your protection. Help me to be the example that they need, the pillar that supports our home in faith, love and hope.

As Rafael Domingo Oslé so well expresses in Spiritualizing, each day is an opportunity to get closer to You through our daily life and our closest relationships. I give You this home and my loved ones, confident that, with Your help, we can live according to Your will.

I place my family in Your hands, trusting in Your infinite mercy and love. May we walk together towards You, always supported by Your grace.

Amen.
