Monsignor Orozco was on his ad Limina Apostolorum visit last week, from January 17-22, in the company of all the other Bishops of the south of Spain and of the ecclesiastical province of Mérida-Badajoz.

 The Joy of Its Author

Author Miguel Redondo shared on the social networks his joy over the fact that the Holy Father knew his work. “Today I’ve had great joy. Pope Francis received this afternoon “The Bible According to Misi: Genesis.” This was possible, thanks to Bishop Francisco Jesus of Guadix who was on his ad Limina visit in Rome. The Pope saw my dedication and smiled when he was shown the cartoon. The objective was achieved: to elicit a smile and to show the Bible through a cartoon, for ALL publics. Thanks to the Pope, thanks to the Bishop of

Guadix, and thanks to José Francisco, who helped me to take this cartoon to Rome,” he said.

On being asked if he thought this would be possible, Redondo answered: “I thought it would be difficult, given that the Lord Bishop has a tight agenda during the ad Limina visit, and, even less so the Pope, who would have limited time for the number of people he receives every day. However, it made me very happy that Monsignor Francisco Jesus was pleased with the request to give the Pope the cartoon. And then, to watch his enthusiasm on showing it to other Bishops.”

From the Diocese of Guadix to a Book

According to the mentioned note, Misi began his course of telling stories some six years ago. “He is round and easily recognizable, although sometimes he is somewhat disguised. He soon dedicated himself to show us the most outstanding <feature> of the Gospel of each Sunday on the Website of the diocese of Guadix.”

The first drawings of Misi were published in 2016 on the Website of the accitana diocese and, since then, it has not failed to come out every Sunday, showing the most prominent idea of the Gospel that the Church proposes for the Sunday liturgy. It has been going on already for five years and Misi now begins a new course: he makes a leap to paper in a book that is already on sale,” reads the text

With this new project, Miguel Redondo “begins a series of cartoons on the Bible, in which the great stories found there are summarized. And he will do so with the cartoon language: graphic, direct, thought-provoking, in color. As the publishing house describes in its review, “the likable personage of author Miguel Redondo recounts to us with humorous cartoons the chapters of the first book of the Bible. Misi brings us close to this great fundamental Book of humanity’s history.
