“Jesus meek and humble of heart, transform our hearts and teach us to love God and neighbor with generosity.” Two days before the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, this Friday June 11, Pope Francis told faithful to repeat this prayer throughout this month that commemorates the Sacred Heart of Christ.
The Pontiff’s recommendation came during his fifth weekly General Audience this year with some faithful in the Vatican’s San Damaso Courtyard, today, June 9, as he continued his series of catecheses on prayer to the few hundred socially-distanced, masked faithful before him.
Greeting English-speaking faithful, Francis said: “The day after tomorrow we will celebrate the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in which the love of God met all humanity.”
“I invite each of you to look with trust to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to repeat often, especially during this month of June: Jesus meek and humble of heart, transform our hearts and teach us to love God and neighbor with generosity.”
Addressing elderly, young people, the sick and newlyweds, he prayed: “May the Heart of Christ, source of the love that redeemed the world, always accompany and sustain you.”
“I give my blessing to all of you!” he said.
