Pope Francis has decided to suppress the Christian Life Movement, the Association of Mary Immaculate, the Marian Fraternity of Reconciliation and the Ancillas of the Plan of God, which constitute the “family” of the apostolic society Sodalitium of Christian Life, founded in Peru in 1971. This was expressed yesterday by Bishop Jordi Bertomeu, pontifical delegate, during a mass in the parish of Our Lady of Reconciliation in Lima, entrusted to the Sodalitium. This information was confirmed in an interview with the Peruvian newspaper La República.
For its part, the Sodalicio de Vida Cristiana, which met in assembly in Aparecida, announced its cessation on January 31 through a statement which reads, among other things: “We accept this decision with docility, maintaining our trust in God’s Providence. We reiterate our full obedience to the Holy Father and continue to accompany him with our constant prayer. We wish to express as an Assembly, with pain and profound repentance, our request for forgiveness from the victims and all those who have been affected by the various abuses that have occurred in our history, for the wounds caused, and for all the scandal that this has caused. Likewise, we are grateful for the accompaniment and all the guidance that the Church has given us during this period, especially through the papal delegates present at this assembly.”
