Today we celebrate the feast of the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple, he enters the temple to restore true worship

Forty days after Christmas, this feast continues the theme of Christ the light, which characterizes Christmas and the Epiphany.

This presentation is the first encounter of the Messiah with the believing people, the rest of Israel, represented by the holy elders Simeon and Anna who, enlightened by the Holy Spirit, turned the mystery into revelation, recognized the Lord, and proclaimed him with joy. Jesus is the new and definitive presence of God among his people. He is the Savior.

They proclaimed that God was faithful and kept his promises.

Today, in the Eucharist, we carry lit candles in our hands, just as Mary carried Christ, the light of the nations, and we go to meet the Lord, and we recognize him as truly present there, where he feeds us with the bread of the Word and with his Body and Blood.

The second reading, from the Letter to the Hebrews, invites us to live in joy and hope, to open our hearts to Jesus Christ, true God and true man, who is the Son of God, but is also one of our family, our brother, and therefore can be a compassionate and faithful High Priest, who has passed through the test of pain, can now help those who are passing through it, and who annihilated the one who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and freed all those who, out of fear of death, spent their entire lives as slaves.

It invites us to give to the Lord our fears, which so often paralyze us to the devil: fear of suffering, of weakness, of failure, of criticism, of… and invites us to see the victory of Jesus Christ over our fears.

But the Word also tells us that the door of the heart has the key inside.

The Lord knocks at your door. But you, in your freedom, can open it or not: Jesus Christ will always be like a disputed flag: thus the attitude of many hearts will be clear.

The salvation that he brings is not imposed. Nor is it inherited. It is accepted, freely and personally, or it is rejected. God, who created you without you, will not save you without you (Saint Augustine).

I am at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will enter his house and dine with him and he with me (Rev 3:20).

Do not be afraid! If you believe, you will see the glory of God.

Come Holy Spirit!
