The John Paul II Vatican Foundation, in collaboration with the Church of St. Stanislaus B&M in Rome and the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow, are honored to announce the first edition of the Saint John Paul II Days at the Pontifical Universities of Rome, which will take place from November 26th to 29th, 2024. The theme of this edition is “Faith and Reason in the Thought of John Paul II”.
During these Days, numerous events are planned, including academic lectures, debates, and cultural activities, culminating in a gala evening where the results of the student competition will be announced and the prizes awarded.
The events will take place:
- at the Pontificia Università San Tommaso D’Aquino on November 26th at 2:30 PM,
- at the Pontificia Università della Santa Croce on November 27th at 11:30 AM,
- at the Church of St. Stanislaus B&M on November 27th at 6:00 PM,
- at the Pontificia Università Gregoriana on November 28th at 5:00 PM,
- and the gala evening will be held at the Pontificia Università San Tommaso D’Aquino on November 29th at 6:00 PM.
The competition was open to students from all cycles of study at the Pontifical Universities of Rome. Participants were invited to submit a scientific article related to the theme of the Days written in either Italian or English. The deadline for submissions was November 10, 2024. The winning papers will be selected by a panel of professors from the Pontifical Universities. The authors of the top three papers will present their work during the gala evening. The articles will be published in a prestigious academic journal. The three winners will receive monetary prizes: €2,000 for first place, €1,500 for second place and €1,000 for third place, plus publication of the winning articles in scientific journals and a trip to Poland in April 2025. Presentations during the gala may be made in a classical or multimedia format, with a maximum duration of 20 minutes.
The Saint John Paul II Days at the Pontifical Universities of Rome, including the competition, represent a unique opportunity for students to deepen their knowledge of the thought of Saint John Paul II and to contribute to the academic debate on faith and reason.
